Smoke-stack sky
suck a juke joint lit
wrong side speeding
lickety split brace & bit
driving a hole through a night sky
beer can rattle, who gon' tattle
syphon trust out from a white lie
a rock on the road
keep me rolling down
like a rock on the road
red hair dye & a different name
cheap tricks to deep six
any trace of trait
slingshot strutt & singing adios
until I cross the border
& I hit the coast
a rock on the road
keep me rolling down
like a rock on the road
Smoothly soothing 80's-styled indie-pop, with beautiful harmonies, these two friends have made a wistfully wry album rich in summer vibes and autumnal emotion.
The production is superbly warm; bedsit intimacy with studio clarity. And even though most songs follow well-worn pop templates, others are wonky enough to mark this out as something more.
Hopefully, this isn't a one-off, because HAMJAM has a lot to offer.
