Talking like a dump truck
My ears began to ring
I watched you move your mouth
My eyes began to sting
My hair was falling out
My dome was caving in
I couldn't interrupt because the pauses....
were too thin
I gathered up your words
I used them for manure
I grew a giant plant
I thought I'd found a cure
A little palliation
Filled inside my lungs
My eyes started to spin
& I couldn't stop my
tongue tongue tongue tongue
I phoned up every person
I could think of at the time
I shouted through a bull horn
I threw up my red wine
The spew then turned to acid
The poison met the sea
Our water looks like custard
We talk through yellow teeth
Nobody has been sleeping
Each phone was born to ring
Now everybody's talking
But nobody says a thing
Everybody's talking
but nobody says a thing
Smoothly soothing 80's-styled indie-pop, with beautiful harmonies, these two friends have made a wistfully wry album rich in summer vibes and autumnal emotion.
The production is superbly warm; bedsit intimacy with studio clarity. And even though most songs follow well-worn pop templates, others are wonky enough to mark this out as something more.
Hopefully, this isn't a one-off, because HAMJAM has a lot to offer.
